Child & family health services

Children’s Centres work in partnership with community health teams, the NHS and Virgin Care to make sure your family’s health and wellbeing needs are met. Working in partnership with Virgin Care we host services such as antenatal classes and Child Health Clinics.

Health visitors run Child Heath Clinics across the cluster for parents/carers and their under 5s. A chance to see a health professional and ask any questions you might have about your child’s health. You can raise any concerns or simply ask for more information. There is also an opportunity to weigh and measure your baby. The session is on a ‘drop in’ basis. Parents and children are welcome to come along any time during the session.

We provide an antenatal classes in partnership with the local midwifery and health visiting teams, aiming to introduce parents to the services that our Children’s Centre can provide in the early weeks of your baby’s life. Parents are also given a detailed session on the benefits of breastfeeding and breast milk, which is the only food your baby needs for the first 6 months. Breastfeeding also gives Baby the best possible start in life, in terms of physical and emotional wellbeing, secure attachment and best intellectual development, allowing each child to fulfil their unique potential. The midwives deliver a session giving information on pain relief and labour and what to expect in the first few hours and days of your baby’s life.
